Target invests further to scale up production of closed panels

We are excited to announce that we have invested in a second hydraulic butterfly table following high levels of demand for our fully factory-assembled closed panel timber frames.

Launched in 2022, Target Timber’s closed panel systems are noted for their ultra-low u-values of 0.17 W/m²/K, making them easily compliant with Part L of Building Regulations.

Since the launch, demand has not only soared, but our panels have received System Acceptance from both LABC Warranty and Premier Guarantee.

This increase in demand is being driven by the need for greater construction efficiency and quicker build times, and also because timber is recognised as being the most sustainable and environmentally friendly construction material.

The off-site manufacturing of timber frames reduces on-site labour costs, reduces waste, and minimises local disruption. It also results in better build qualities and much greater thermal efficiency resulting in lower energy bills.

Strengthening our off-site manufacturing capabilities

Over the last few years, there has been a long-awaited upward curve in the specification of timber frames for construction – for housing and commercial properties.

The rising number of orders led to the investment in our first industrial panel maker which enabled us to produce our new closed panel timber frames with great speed and efficiency.

This new investment in a second hydraulic table system enables us to scale up production of our prefabricated closed panels, as well as roofs, floors, and gable ends.

Nick Whittle, Joint Managing Director at Target Timber said, “Our innovative off-site manufacturing facility has long met the needs of our growing customer base, with capacity to double and even triple current output.

“This further investment ensures that our skilled timber craftsmen not only have access to the safest and most dynamic machinery, but it ensures that we can scale up with ease and continue to turn around orders at speed”.
